My original timeline was built around the assumption that I would be presenting my recommendation report in May, just before class ended -- but when my Supervisor remembered that SFPL would be hosting DPLA WEST in April, plans began to shift ...
The Digital Public Library of America is an ambitious attempt to create a national public library online-- to unify the disparate "silos" of digital information found on individual public library websites by creating a sort of "one stop shop" for public library patrons. It doesn't exist yet, and the exact parameters are not yet filled in, but that's what the meeting is for: to get input, ideas and buy-in:

I'm intrigued by the idea, and my Supervisor has expressed great interest in having me attend. The more we discussed it together, and the possibility of me attending it, the more my supervisor felt that we should combine my in-person presentation with the DPLA meeting, so that I'd be giving my presentation -- not at the DPLA meeting itself (I'm not quite ready for "prime-time" yet!) -- but on the same day, or before or after. It's a convenient solution that will save me having to make a separate visit in May (though I wouldn't mind doing that either), but it means that I'll have to finish my report, presentation and literature review several weeks ahead of the original deadline, and rearrange things so that my Cataloging project is last.
I'm sure that I can manage it -- but it will take intense focus, an absolute minimum social life, a week or two of "vacation" from work, and putting every other sort of chore or obligation on hold. Including dealing with the termites that I discovered yesterday in my bamboo floor after I rearranged the furniture ..
Termites don't listen to you when you scream at them:
"YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME RIGHT NOW -- I'VE GOT HOMEWORK!
... they just keep chewing.
